A wound is a tear or break of a tissue internally or outwardly. It can be due to coming in communication with outside elements energetically. Normally, injuries, whether open or closed, happen incidentally. In a few cases, injuries spring from other folks purposefully. Irrespective of the cause, any wound should be correctly cleaned and treated to avoid complications due to infection. To stop the infection of an open sore, blood flow control, wound cleaning, and bandaging are the 3 first steps to do note of when applying first aid.

1. Preparation. The first thing to recollect when providing treatment for a festering wound is to sterilise your hands. Ensure to rinse your hands comprehensively with soapy water. This can make sure that no diseases will come from your hands. Top this off by wearing a clean pair of latex gloves also. You’ll need to gather your first aid materials also.

* fresh water or saline solution
* Clean cloths
* Liquid soap
* Antiseptic cream
* Cotton balls
* Adhesive bandages
* Rolling gauze
* Butterfly enclosures

2. Blood control. Step one in performing first aid on an open sore is to manage the bleeding. Whatever the seriousness of the wound, bleeding can be contained. Control bleeding by plugging the wound or hole with a cloth and applying sustained pressure. Pressure will permit blood clots to hurry up the recovery process and stop the bleeding. If blood continues and soaks your fabric, don’t let up. Keep the pressure and just add another layer of fabric to take in the blood.  At some point soon, the bleeding will decline.

3. Wound cleaning. The subsequent step will be to scrub the wound. Clean the wound only if the bleeding has stopped or slowed down. Remove any waste or dirt round the wound. Wipe it off with a clean material. Pour water or saline solution on the wound. Saline solution is the best choice for cleaning. If there’s none, you may use regular or bottled water. Scrub the wound with soap. Use liquid soap for a better cleaning effect. Make efforts to scrub around and on the wound. Wash the soap off after with water and dry the wound.

4. Wound dressing. When you have cleaned and disinfected the wound, it’s time to dress and close the wound for the natural restorative process to start. Get a cotton ball and apply antiseptic lotion on the wound and the near by areas. This could sterilise the wound further and protect it from further infection. If the wound is still bleeding, put a gauze pad on it and wrap it around with adhesive or rolling gauze. For lacerations, cuts, or avulsions, you are going to need to apply a transient solution in preparation for stitching. Employ a butterfly enclosure to paste both ends of the injuries together. Once the enclosure is stable, cover with a bandage with adhesive. Remember these steps are only temporary measures to stop further infection and problems. If the wound is severe or keeps bleeding, go and seek medical aid.
